Mayflower Back in Steam This Weekend

After a hiatus of over a year, steam tug ‘Mayflower’ is back cruising the harbour this weekend!
Following a series of repairs and refreshed parts, she was lit up and went for a test sailing today whilst Henbury and Crane 30 were on ‘Have a Go’ duties.
Sailings are due to take place Saturday and Sunday and trips can be booked from the ticket office.

Thanks to Bob for the photos!

John King’s Wheelhouse Lift

Back at the start of the month, Crane 30 was used to lift off the wheelhouse to Bristol tug ‘John King’ so it can have some tender loving care.

Thanks to Bob Edwardes for these photos!
Bob says “Whilst up the crane I also had a cracking view of the recently restored Thames sailing barge (S.B. Gladys) making her way from Gloucester back to London via Bristol Harbour.”

Cranes and Boats and Trains

The last operating weekend of the season is this coming Saturday and Sunday on the BHR, before the winter shut down begins. M Shed museum will be open as normal.

The steam tug Mayflower will also be giving rides.

One of the electric cranes is open to visitors from 11am-4pm today, if you want to go up in the cab and see the controls!
